About Me

photo of me

Hello, my name is Craig Lennox and I am a part-time Doctor of Education (EdD) student at UWE Bristol. My research focuses on the marketisation of England's higher education system, neoliberalism and how these factors may impact academic identities and how academics perceive themselves.

My doctoral research employs visual methodologies and utilises participant-led photo elicitation as a means to empower academics and provide them with a voice and full control over what information they share visually and how they define and describe their photos verbally.

I am really interested in the power of using images as a tool to encourage discussion, particularly around potentially sensitive and emotional topics. I also enjoy how images can be literal or metaphorical providing research subjects with creative and artistic freedom. Most of all, what I really like about visual methods is that it encourages research participants to pause, reflect and really take time to consider what they are going to provide as data for my research. This is extremely powerful in forcing participants to take time to think about particular areas of their life that they may often simply skirt over.

Guest Lectures:

Throughout my varied career working in higher education, I have been fortunate to have been asked to deliver a number of guest lectures to both undergraduate and postgraduate students at Henley Business School, UWE Bristol, and Bath Spa University. My lectures have been predominantly auto-ethnographic and case studies of my experience of living and working in East Asia, building on the theoretical principles taught in the programme. I have discussed doing business in emerging markets, establishing a brand presence in new markets, and leadership and management in an international context.

I have also lectured on the cultural aspects of successfully conducting business in Asia covering areas such as business etiquette, traditional business customs and values, effective communications in business in Asia, the art of gift-giving, and what to expect during a business banquet in East Asia. one lecture that many have enjoyed in particular is the do's and don't of doing business in East Asia as this lecture covers lucky and unlucky symbols and objects, auspicious colours and objects, plus gestures and expressions and mixed meanings.

I enjoy delivering guest lectures and I am eager to continue to increase my experience in delivering lectures I would welcome requests and inquiries for guest lectures, so please do not hesitate to contact me.

Away from my research, I work full time in advancing innovation through securing research funding to fund research projects between academia and industry. I am also a dad to the best little guy in the world. When I get time, I love cooking, reading, traveling and gin.

Thanks
